I too like the look of just the shower and bath wall tiled but like carolina i really don t like having no tiles round the toilet and just a couple of tiles behind the sink.
Wall tiling costs from 40 m2 including cheap tiles labour fitting materials adhesive grout silicon etc so a bathroom with 20m2 of walls quite common will cost 800 to fully tile the walls.
I don t think there is any hard and fast rule about how high the wall tile should be.
I d prefer half way up i like the black tiles in the shower you could perhaps do something like that and take it around the top of your tiles that are only going so far up so it continues at the same height like a border.
Or a certain height that looks good always.
Compared to fully tiled bathroom walls the cost of renovation for this option is cheaper.
When we tile a bathroom we go above the height of wall switches so field tile would get receptacle plus cap if any above.
We plan to have it all the way around the bathroom behind toilet vanity tub etc.

The bathroom below showcases one of our favorite unconventional tile heights with the tile covering 3 4 of the wall.
Meanwhile walls without tiles are painted.
Two are at 38 and one is at 36.

The details that make this style of tiling work are the choice of paint colour on the walls above and the trim which is key to helping tiles run nicely into a plain wall.
It all depends on the size tile you have selected.
Try mocking up a section of the bath at different heights pick heights that will give you full tiles w trim and decide which you like best.
Here tiles are utilised only in wet areas such as shower enclosures and around baths.
Ps this does not include any major wall preparation costs such as reboarding that may be required when stripping off the existing tiles.

So i m leaning towards having the tiles up to half height around the rest of the bathroom with full height in the shower and behind the bath.
